A magazine article for young sophomore Bill Gates and his friend Paul Allen walking at Harvard Square must have been a source of inspiration. In his book The Road Ahead, published in 1995, Bill Gates explains how he got inspired by a magazine article from Popular Electronics issue just came out, a picture of an early assemblable computer. For young Bill Gates and Paul Allen, this must have been quite an inspiration because as we all know they founded Microsoft and developed pioneering softwares such as MS-DOS, EXCEL, and WINDOWS for what became a PC, a personal computer. Who would have thought that a small effort would later become a major appreciation?
The Road Ahead, by Bill Gates, was published in 1995. The book (Hardcover, Paperback, Audible Audiobook – Abridged (Bill Gates, Author, Narrator / Rick Adamson, Narrator / Penguin Audio, Publisher)) may be purchased at Amazon.com depending on the stock availability.

Paper print magazines have served public for many centuries. Among many sources of news and information, a thing called magazine as a communication medium probably must have evolved to time and trend and has continued to exist as a medium of expression to this day. For amusement, for both entertaining and educational, I remember I once subscribed to Motor Trend magazine around the time when I got my first drivers license. Monthly issues piled up quickly after a while had to decide whether to keep them or to look for where to donate to before I actually discarded them into a trashcan. There are still many quality magazines in digital format for doing research and writing a paper in college. Some are peer-reviewd for more credibility.
Ebooks, journals and periodicals such as newspapers and magazines are now digitally available also at most school libraries and public libraries. The U.S. Library of Congress is the largest in size in the country and therefore in the world I daresay for such a good source of informations for the public in the catalog system. To do research and to be sure to include the proper citations for educational purposes are important aspects of higher learning and online etiquette. AIs are becoming apparent and prominent quickly; and it could be an immediate and tangible concern by now already for us and perhaps to the generations to come in future.
Publishers seem less interested in its once florished paper print production today. Whatever the reason may be, so seems to be a logical trend for both paperback or hardcover books to be available digitally. Local newspapers are turning toward online subscriptions more. We now have a wide world of web informations to navigate. Spate of content imaginations and creation efforts and a sense of avulsion from somewhat disconcerting feeling from new AIs presence and its usage seem vibrant and cautiously optimistically energetic. If any formidable concerns at hand, people are probably resilient and indefatigable for prudent guidances from honest foresight and discernment.
According to Britannica Encyclopoedia on history of publishing:
Though there may have been published material similar to a magazine in antiquity, especially perhaps in China, the magazine as it is now known began only after the invention of printing in the West. It had its roots in the spate of pamphlets, broadsides, ballads, chapbooks, and almanacs that printing made possible. Much of the energy that went into these gradually became channeled into publications that appeared regularly and collected a variety of material designed to appeal to particular interests. The magazine thus came to occupy the large middle ground, incapable of sharp definition, between the book and the newspaper…. (Britannica, history of publishing)
As a last baby boomer generation and as an immigrant from Korea back in the late 70’s I am well used to the old paper print magazines for its touch and feel. I used to grab a magazine and manhandled it to hold, flip its pages and put it away nicely for any next reader. I lived such a youth and they are still in my memories. At the bookstore, at supermarket, at liquor store, at the school library, or at a visiting receptionist areas of an office or a shop, several magazines were always facilitated for a thoughtful accomodation for the visitors niche time reading. Each issue with a name and address label were delivered by the US postal service mail carrier person to the regular subscriber weekly or monthly at their house porch area or mailbox. Magazines were a source of curiosity and inspiration for me too. Magazine articles featuring literary reviews, product reviews, summarizing new products, advertisements, … with brief comments… etc. are still arousing my curiosity and interests personally. And for some people it may be a product of a serious academic endeavor to pursue a career in journalism, illustrations, graphic art, business administration, etc. Paper print magazines once had its industry cared for and nurtured by many people encouraging its growth and development with each other prospered, I sincerely hope its continued enlightenment at the discreetion of future generations caring dispense.
